Aerogel insulation earns its place wherever thickness, weight or water is the constraint rather than raw thermal performance. On a greenfield site with unlimited space and a generous budget, conventional insulation is often the right answer. The picture changes when the pipe rack is already full, when topside weight is capped, when the facade cannot move, or when corrosion under insulation has already cost you an unplanned shutdown.
